PPF-21
Time for the Duckie Survey of the week.
PAST: Nobody’s going to get angry at you about it now. So go ahead and tell us how old you were the first time you got a taste of an alcoholic beverage. You didn’t really wait until it was legal, did you?
I never had a taste as a kid, nor did I want to. When I was five my Uncle Ron got married. At the reception in their backyard, my grandfather got so drunk that he passed out and hit his head on the wooden border surrounding a tree. I was standing less then six feet away. I remember him looking right at me and then falling. The ambulance came and took him into the house. The next thing I remember my mom is taking me into a darkened living room where they had put Grampa and was telling me that grampa was awake and wanting to know if I was ok. So I went into this dark room, mom stood by the door, I assume, and went to talk to grampa. It was a weird conversation as he asked if I was ok. I remember thinking at the time, “oh, so this is why we shouldn’t drink.” I later learned from my mother that Grampa had amnesia for three hours after the fall and that I was the ONLY thing he remembered and he woke up asking about me and wanting to know if I was ok.
PRESENT: I don’t have anything against drinking, I just don’t want to be a drinker. What about you? Do you abstain, go wild or just have a sip of wine from time to time?
Because of the aforementioned story I have never had the desire to drink. However, as a wedding Dj I get alot of beer and wine left at my table as people are dancing, I am so not a coffee table. Anyway, as I remove these glasses from my table I often get stuff on my fingers and I don’t realize it until I eat or drink something. UGH! Weddings always have lots of finger foods so this has happened on enough occasions that I get really careful how I remove glasses from my table. And some of the stuff I have seen because of drunk people, really makes me wonder what the hell the appeal is.
FUTURE: Continuing the “what would you call it” thread, create a mixed drink and give it a name. Fanciful ingredients are encouraged, of course!
LOL, like I know enough about alcohol to make up a drink, and I don’t honestly know if I would feel flattered or insulted if there was a drink named after me.
