Duckie Survey…Ducky Survey…Ducky Survey

PAST: Sometimes it’s amazing the creatures we found fascinating as children that we’re either indifferent to now or even find actively disgusting and creepy. In my case, I am astounded when I think about those lazy summer days trapping garden spiders in jars. (Yeah, it’s making my flesh crawl just thinking about it.) Do you have a similar experience, or am I on my own here?

Acording to my mom, when I was very little, and living in Arizona or New Mexico, I used to scare the pants off my parents because I would play with tarantulas. I also remember my first bee sting because I wanted to pet a bee. Now I have arachniphobia and I don’t like bees.

PRESENT: This week’s dull and prosaic question is, what creatures great and small do you care for in or around your home?

Used to have some beta’s, but they all commited suicide. Now we just have eight really cute bunnies. (The mom had babies) Although I know if my daughter had her way we’d be swimming in animals.

FUTURE: “If I could talk to the animals, walk with the animals…” Well, what would you say to them? That is, of course, if you thought for a minute that they were even remotely interested.

I believe that animals are eternal creatures and will be resurrected also, and my mom has always left the impression on me that when it comes time to take responsiblity for our choices here, they will have a chance to speak for us or against us.

:D - Next time an exotic animal show is in Portland you should take your daughter. They have the cutest wallaby (sp?) babies and these little pouches they let you wear with a wallaby inside. It’s just a bunch of fun to walk around and see all the crazy animals. Rheas and Emus to mini-cows! Yes, there are mini-cows! It’s a blast and they’re usually free.
