Wednesday Fun

Yesturday, the kids and I went to a birthday party for a one year old in our church who was born with many physical problems. He’s had seven surgeries so far adn will be having many more. Anyway, the fact that he’s made it a year so far is a miracle and many of us got together to celebrate his life. Instead of having us buy toys for a child who won’t even recongize presents, they decided to use it to raise money for the Hospital that helped save Jeran’s life.

The money that we were donating is going to help buy crib toys for the infants in the ICU who can’t go home right away. Something that they can become attached to and take home with them when it’s time to leave. We thought is was a great idea and everyone involved came to support them in this.

Ok, now for the fun stuff. *grin*

The party was held at McMinnamins Edgefield. Now I’ve talked about this place before and as always they are and were great. What I didn’t know about however is that they have a small 18 hole golf course. The course is par 3 or 4 on most holes, they arent really long but it’s still going to take you a couple of hours. The difficulty level is pretty good. There are many traps and even a few where you have to hit uphill, over blackberry bushes or try to avoid a really ugly looking creek.

There were several holes where I took one look at them and said, nope, we’re starting past the traps. Neither my kids nor I are expereinced, so there was no point in losing our balls on purpose. It was on one of these little hazard holes that I had my first ever hole in one though. Late in the course there are two holes where you have to go over HUGE blackberry bushes. The second one isn’t as bad as the first but like the first one we started after the bush.

In this case however we were standing right next to the green of the last hole to start shooting. Same distance as the tee, but not over the blackberry bushes. Alex swung, Erica swung and then I swung. That stupid ball flew down the hill hit the curve of the hill next to the green, curved down and thwacked right into the pole and dropped into the hole. I screamed in shock and the team right before us who saw the whole thing screamed. It was pretty funny, everyone we were golfing with were experienced golfers, so they started teasing me that I should quit now because I’ve made my hole in one and how I’ll never get another one. *chuckle*

Alex and Erica also made some fantastic drive and putt shots. It took Alex a few holes to loosen up and start having fun, and Erica just was relaxed and having fun and made most of the good shots. We all averaged about 6 shots on par 3 holes, (chuckle) so we have alot to practice. But I had a really good time doing this and I’m game to taking Alex and Erica back for more.

The party itself was sweet and alot of fun. There were alot of people there and I had fun visiting with people.

Edgefield scares the hell out of me… That place is totally haunted. There have to be dead people haunting it from when it was a loony farm. All those creepy paintings and eerie hallways… Just gives me the shivers thinking about it.
