Ok, duckie time is here. I actually have mixed feelings about this weeks survey. I didn’t realize until I started answering this one that this is actually a touchy subject for me. So here are my answers.

PAST: Most of us moved around a bit as children, but most people I’ve talked to about it remember one particular place as being “home.” What was home to you, growing up?

That is a tough questions to answer. Home tends to be wherever I’m currantly living. I moved alot. In fact one of the reasons my husband caught my attention was that he had moved more then I had. Until our move to Portland, I had never lived in any area for longer then about four years, usually having moved to several houses adn schools during that time. So “HOME” is a subjective term to me. I don’t really have any house I consider home, I have some locations that have happy memories but nothing that labels that place as “home”. Even though I’ve lived in Portland going on 16 years, you’d think I’d consider this place “home”. I love it here, but like I said, it’s where I’m living now.

PRESENT: What is it about your present home that drew you to it, and what makes it a great place to live?

I generally like where I’m living now. It’s private, quiet, has lots of kids nearby, within walking distance of the kids school, close to buses and I like the Ward I go to. It has two bathrooms and a huge garage. It’s got a good backyard but I’ve never had the money to really take advantage of it. I’ve lived here for six years and right now it qualifies as the house I’ve lived the longest in.

FUTURE: You’ve won the lottery! Hooray! Now, get out there and build your dream house. And, of course, tell us all about it.

I just want to own a house, that would be so novel. Lets see, things I would like to have in that house…hmmmm. Well first thing is that it would have an AWESOME kitchen. Two ovens that sit in the wall, big enough to cook 30lb. turkeys. A walk in pantry, a center island with a stove and griddle built in. I’d have all the other must haves for appliances. I’m not sure what type of countertops it would have, but they would be durable. The sink would not have that stupid annoying metal ring that you have to clean with a brush, but would sit below the edge of the counter so you just have a smooth drop into the sink. There would be plenty of cupboard space and we’d have a bin under the counter just perfect for storing ones recycling and garbage. My bathrooms would have double sinks, those huge double jacuzzi tubs and showers. My personal bathroom would have not only that tub but the shower would be on of those big ones where the tiling is so large that you don’t need a shower curtain. Perfect for double showers. ;) We’d have to have a deck that wraps around with chairs for people to sit and relax as kids play. Enough bedrooms for family and guests and of course Living, Dining, kitchette , Family/movie, Computer rooms. I also want a Music room with a dance floor for parties and cozy one on one moments. I may even build a Fantasy room, right off of my bedroom, for the express purpose of playing out mine and my hubby’s fantasies. (evil grin) It’ll be a home where family and friends can feel comfortable dropping by and are always welcome. And of course all of this comes with people to keep the house up, I’m not cleaning it, if I’ve won the lottery, someone else can clean my house. *grin*
