Harvey’s Comedy Club

Last night hubby and I met several friends at a local comedy club for a night of laughter, and it didn’t disappoint. There were two headliners, which is unusual, and both were very funny, which is not always the case. They were funny in different ways however, the first one was my favorite.

James P. Connelly was our first comedian, and he came out in a the most awful, grandma’s furniture plaid sports coat you have ever seen. And he made fun of everyone including himself. He played up the character that Ellen is known for. The really weird person no one really wants to be around. But in his own style and with alot of flair and never missing a beat he killed the audience. But his best part for me was when he picked on me and mostly my hubby. He gave me some nice compliments and then asked who my date was. After asking Greyducks name, he commented how it wasn’t romantic enough and called him d’Artagnan and then proceeded to refer back to him anytime he needed someone to show up. Refer to Greyducks site for a good “example” of some of the ribbing. One of the priceless moments was when James asked me what was the most romantic thing Greyduck does for me. And I could have said something sweet and darling, but instead, being the practical woman that I am, with just a hint of devilishness, I told him that I loved it when he emptied my van for me after I get home from a gig. Well to say the least he took that and ran with it. Which is what I wanted him to do. Greyduck spent the rest of the time going “thanks dear.” while rolling his eyes. It was fun and I really do treasure that my hubby will empty my van at midnight when I get home from a Wedding and have no energy to empty it myself. What a romantic I am……hehe
