Oh, it’s been busy busy busy.

I had a good weekend. The wedding I worked went off smoothly. It was both a ceremony and reception for me to oversee this time. Ceremonies are both awesome and rough for me to watch. It helps me have hope, but also brings with it wistfulness and sadness. It was also held at the Groom’s mother’s home up in the Battleground area of Washington. It was gorgeous. It was overcast which was perfect for the pictures, however, we all got a little shock when it decided to rain for about 30 minutes. Fortunately there was a huge tent over me and the food, but it made things a little tense for the ceremony. It cleared up in time though and we started on time. It was a small wedding but such a great crowd. They ended up keeping me an extra hour they were having such a good time.

I was personally thrilled about the overtime. I needed it. Thanks to a stunt by PGE I had to wipe out my kids vacation money in order to keep my electricity on. I might now be able to afford sending them. It still is iffy though. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

This week sees some busy time for me. The Cancer Society Walk for Life in Gresham is this weekend. Just like last year it will be an 18 hour event. Starting around 4 in the afternoon on Friday and going until 10am the next morning. I will then rush home for a couple hours sleep before heading off to the wedding reception I have to work that evening. Unlike last year however, I do not get to blissfully die when I get home and sleep for an entire day. Sunday is a performance of my choir at church. So I have to be up and at ‘em by 7:30 in the morning on sunday. I will however, be leaving church right after and dying in my bed. *chuckles*

The only other event happening this week is my birthday tomorrow. I’m glad to be turing 31. I’m probably one of the few females who likes turning older (grin) however, what I don’t like is the disappointment of my birthday. At least this year I don’t have divorce shock to deal with. When I was growing up, I had the only summer birthday. Mom and Dad always did these really awesome things for my siblings birthday and then when mine hit it, because all of us kids would be home from school there wasn’t much money to do stuff. It probably doesn’t help that I got used to having beach parties for my birthday when I was little living in California. Big family events and we’d invite kids we knew and their families. Now, next to nothing happens on my birthday. Again usually to do with having no money. It’s stupid and probably petty but it depresses me none the less. It’s complicated by the fact that I have this small desire to feel special to someone who matters to me on my birthday. And that rarely ever happens. My birthday’s usually come and go and if I don’t do something for myself, it doesn’t happen. The few times I’ve tried putting on a party for myself have been real failures so I don’t set myself up like that anymore. I really do love birthdays…I just don’t care for this one aspect of mine.

There is something happening on my birthday though this year. I’m feeding the missionaries, and since there is no adult male in my home, my home teacher from church is coming with them. He called and asked if it would be okay to cook me a birthday dinner and have his family come over too. I thought that was sweet. My kids made it clear that they want my burrito’s for dinner that night so I told them to bring the ingrediants while I make the meat. So that should be a nice evening.

Besides…the people that I care for in any special way don’t live in this state. I won’t speculate if they’ll remember my birthday. That just leads to disappointment. I can be forgetful about other’s birthdays so I can understand when people forget mine. I certainly can’t be two-faced about that. Doesn’t stop making me feel small though.
