Something to keep in Mind

Anyone who knows me knows I have very little respect or tolerance for the actions of the Religious Right. The fact that I’m mormon has nothing to do with it. I just hold the belief that the majority of the people running that organization are evil. And I don’t really see them doing much good. What I do see is alot of “If you don’t vote the way we want we’ll force you to.” junk. My main objection to having prayer in school is that you know the religious right would jump on that and try to make it about saying a “christian” prayer instead of respecting the host of faiths that are represented in your average school. Frankly, I’m of the opinion that it’s my job to teach my children religion, not their school and definately not the religious right.

The other thing that bothers me is that people look at the closed-mindedness of people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson and think their bigoted, self-righteous view of God represents the majority of really decent believing people out there. Which they don’t.

As I mentioned in an earlier post I found a couple of youth pastors who have good blogs that I enjoy reading. Well one of them talks about an organization out there that aims to show that the religious right doesn’t speak for all christians out there.

They even have a very snarky video to promote it. Here’s the link. It’s very good. Whether you like religoin or not, you should get a smile from this one.

God is not a Republican
