Sedna or Red Star?
Back in March, Nasa released the discovery of a object orbiting the sun that sits past Pluto. Tentatively named Sedna, it has an orbit that takes 10,500 years to circle the sun. Instead of being an ice ball, it seems to give off a red appearance and seems to be smaller then Pluto, although 3 times farther out.
What has caught my funny bone however, is that it has an elliptical orbit. It is also, according to scientists, possible evidence of an Oort Cloud far out at the edge of our galaxy. Those of you familiar with Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series should see the humor.
