interesting week

I haven’t been on lately mostly because it never occurs to me to write except when I’m feeling irritated, something I need to work on.

However, it’s been a good couple of weeks. My son’s play went great. He played a great Dr. Doolittle for a fifth grader and he carried the play rather well. My daughter got to join the kid’s chess team at the state finals and we took third place so Erica got a chess medal. Alex has earned various badges in his Webelos troop these past few months and recieved his awards for them. Karel’s birthday was the 8th and it was almost a successful surprise dinner. And a friend of mine finally had her baby. So it has been a crazy couple of weeks. Add to that my work schedule and Karel’s and it was really screwy. But we are healthy and supposedly happy, so it’s all good for now. lol

My choir on sunday performed for church. Our chruch doesn’t have “worship teams”, we have Ward choirs. Remember, Ward is our word for a congregation. Our particular Ward hasn’t had a choir in almost three years, so I’m slowly getting my people used to being in a choir by making sure they perform once a month. This month we sang a song called “A Child’s Prayer”, a beautiful two-part song sung by a child and adult. I brought in our oldest girls from our children’s primary group to sing the child’s verse, and then my choir joined in for the adult verse. It was beautiful and moving and both the kids and adults did great. What made the meeting so much more special for me was that I had not coordinated my song choice with the speakers or subject chosen for that meeting. In fact, I have been told that the origional speakers had to bow out of thier assignment at the last minute, so our Bishopric in a last minute move asked our Primary Presidency to speak about children and how they are taught or (more often then not) how they show us the truth of the gospel. To say the least, it was a teary sacrament meeting, and I did enjoy it. Now we have to get in gear and work on Easter music.
