NaNoWriMo Begins
For the second year in a row, I’m attempting the NaNoWriMo challenge. 50,000 words by the last day in November. As of the first day I’m shy of my daily quota of 1600 words by about 400. I had to struggle with getting this one started. It’s based on a dream I keep having where I’m split into three people. And depending on how I’m feeling will depend on which perspective I dream from. The dream always starts in progress, so I’ve had to create an opening. Which wasn’t easy. But I’ve reached the part where my dream takes over, so it should work a little more smoothly for a little bit. Unlike last year, I’m staying away from the erotic side of story telling. I know I’m good at it, but I just don’t feel like indulging that side of myself right now. (Gee, can we guess why?)
The goal of this challenge is just to get the words on paper. Content doesn’t need to be good and since it’s not a polished piece, its not expected to be perfect in anyway. There is a sense of freedom in writing and not worrying about “it’s got to be perfect” That’s what editing afterwards is for. *chuckles*
So here’s the opening excerpt of my story just to tease you or totally bore you along…And I have no working title as of yet.
The moon was out. Full and brilliant, it cast its light over the dark earth. Cassie looked down through the window of the small jet to watch the sleepy earth and to look at the pricks of light that marked each city and town. The person to her side snored beside her. She rolled her eyes. She looked down at her wrist again and wondered for the millionth time, why she had to be handcuffed to her chair. She looked around the cabin and observed the other passangers. They were all men in suits, some were napping and some were watching her.
She felt very apprehensive. She had no idea why she was on this plane. The last thing she remembered was answering her door and seeing these men standing on her porch. Upon waking up and finding herself handcuffed to her chair, she was given food and water and allowed to visit the bathroom.
Now she puzzled through this seeming mystery. She wasn’t in immediate danger. Her needs were being seen to, she wasn’t being mistreated beyond being handcuffed. No one was speaking harshly to her. She was being taken somewhere that required a plane flight to get to. But the overwhelming question was ‘Why?’. Her neighbor snored again. She went back to looking out the window, hoping to see something that would indentify where in the world she was.
After some time the plane started to descend. It was still dark and there were next to no lights that she could see beyond the small airport they were landing in. As the plane landed and taxied to the terminal, one of the men in suits came over.
“Ms. Blake, you have a choice. You can either be put to sleep until we reach our destination or we can blindfold you. But you cannot see where we are going.”
“Well, given the choice, I’ll be blindfolded, thank you.” Cassie replied. Her hands were uncuffed and a blind fold was placed securely over her eyes. She was helped out of her chair and moved out off the plane. She could hear voices mumbled around her. She tried to listen to them in hopes of getting some clue as to what the hell was going on, but to no effect. She could smell the classic airport scent that seems to infect every airport, and then she heard doors swoosh and she felt the heavy dampness of the moist air. Where ever she was, it was humid. Listening intently around her she started hearing the sounds of bugs, and the wind moving through foilage. So there was vegitation nearby, and alot of it from the sound of the bugs. Having suspicions, she listened for more clues to her surroundings.

By all means keep writing. I just heard about the NaNoWriMo yesterday. Good luck, compliments on what you posted, and please, make it known where we can read it all when you are done.
