Last weekend I took part in a Fashion Bug fashion show. It holds these fashion shows where anyone can sign up to model existing outfits. It’s alot of fun and I had a good time. Some of the girls went with the hippie spring style that is apparently in fashion now, although it didn’t look very good on many of them. Women of weight should not be wearing tight fitting clothing, or clothing that accents all the bulges in the wrong places. Unfortunately someone dimwit decided that they could sell more clothes to women if they could convince all of us bigger ladies that we don’t have to watch what we wear, we can wear whatever we want to. While I applaud Fashion Bug for having more regular clothes for women of size to work with. I feel sorry for the women who seem to think they can dress like a skinny person and not look rediculous.

However, most of the women there were dressed really nicely and were smart in their clothing choices. When I went in for my fitting, I was told to find anything to wear as long as it wasn’t on clearance. I looked around and there were alot of classy choices but I knew that this was spring we were going for and several of the girls had already picked out their hippie clothes, so I looked for something smart but fun. My first idea was to find something I wanted to wear, and I found it in a leather jacket. It didn’t fit me too badly, and didn’t make me look too boxy, I hope. A turtleneck would have looked great with it but since it’s coming up on spring I went with a open throat shirt instead. Even with it’s wide disco-style collars it didn’t look to bad and even gave it a classy look. I found a long straight jean skirt with a wide belt that matched the jacket, normally I can’t wear straight skirts, I have the wrong shape for them, but this worked surprisingly well. Now came the accesories, first we found a necklace, we ended up with one that had a dropped stone, it made my neck look longer. We tried a choker, but that didn’t really work all that well, accented my short neck, then we had to find shoes. I could have worn my own shoes but I figured since it was the store’s show, I should wear their shoes. Another fashion style currently in vogue is platform shoes. Yeah, that’s a good idea, put a fat women in fat shoes, right…good idea…not. Large women already have a problem with grace, now you want us to wear clod hoppers that increase the difficulty many of us have with moving normally? Unfortunately all they had that went with the Jacket and skirt were their platforms. So I did go with platforms, after all it was their clothes so I was endeavoring to represent them. The whole thing didn’t look to badly, and I got alot of compliments, as soon as I get paid I’m going back for that jacket and skirt, we’ll think about the shirt. If you would like to see what I ended up looking like, you can go to Greyducks website. It’s listed in my list of friend sites.

Nice pics *grin* Greyduck is definitely one lucky guy. I thought the shoes were positively adorable – I find I have trouble wearing pump style heels, meaning I have no sense of balance in them, and therefore tend to go with the boxy heels. Maybe being tall (5’8″) has something to do with it. But I do agree, the platforms need to go, there *are* times that I don’t want to look like I’m 6 feet tall >.<
