Can we nuke Qwest please?!!!

The last week has been both Hell and Heaven. To start with, Qwest shuts down my internet THREE flipping days AFTER I pay my bill for non-payment. I call them up and say “exuse me?” and they say “whoops, but it’s going to take us five days to get you back, oh and would you like to listen to a sales pitch for things you don’t want and didn’t have before”. It takes me 20 minutes to convince the turkey on the other line that all I want is a clean dsl line so that I can go back to using Infinity Internet as I’ve used for years. So he swears that he’s put in the order that way. Five days later, a.k.a. Thursday, I call just to make sure they haven’t hooked me up to MSN anyway like they did when I started up this thing. I get assured that no, the line is clean and all is ready for Infinity to take over.

So I get up on Friday and lo and behold, the internet light is still red. So I call up Qwest AGAIN just to make sure they haven’t hooked me up to MSN despite my repeated requests not to, and am assured that the line is clean. So I call Infinity to make sure my ISP protocols are still set correctly and they are, so they call Qwest for me to conference call tech support and BINGO, I’m hooked up to MSN ANYWAY!!!!!!

Fortunately there were copious notes about the problem and I had people apologizing up the wahzoo for the “inconvienance”. However, I was still upset, thinking they’d make me wait ANOTHER five days to clear the line like they did last time. But they did get off their butts and get my line cleaned up so that by the end of the day friday I had a green light on my dsl box. All, I can say, is that I better not see any fees or charges due from all this. I’ve already warned them that I won’t pay it.

On the plus side, my DJ boss offered to sell his franchise to me. Which, after thinking about it for a couple of days, I agreed to take over. He’s completely burned out and wants out. So he’s basically handing it over. I’ll spend the next two months getting trained and up to speed on what’s happening. And then after the baby is born, I’ll officially take over. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have this chance to get on my feet financially years before I expected to.

Tuesday was the 22nd, which marks the 13 anniversary of saying “I DO” to Greyduck. We celebrated by filing the last of our divorce papers and taking the kids out to dinner. The irony of the situation strikes my funny bone. Yes, I’m morbid, we all know this. However, two days later I recieve all the papers back in the mail because Greyduck has agreed to pay more in child support then the state requires and they need an “explaination” of why. Who cares why, we’ve been living by our agreement for a YEAR!! Clearly it’s not a problem with us. The explaination of course is that the slightly higher amount removes any need for alimony for me. So we don’t have THAT complication. On the flip side, now that I’ll be owning my own business soon, we can take that child support and put it into a savings account for the kids education. Which will be very good. I have an appointment on March 7th with someone at the court offices who is going to help fine tune these last little bits of information just so I’ve got all our ducks in a row.

Oh, and just as an added bonus…my front brakes failed while I was on the highway on Thursday. Like I said, it’s been an emotional week.
