Six Week Update

Well, the Tadpole is now six weeks old. He seems to be weighing in at around 11 lbs now. I guestimate his weight by holding him while standing on the scale and then seeing what the difference is when I’m standing alone. It’s not very accurate, but it works. He’s now a very chubby baby. I didn’t think he’d get this chubby, but he’s got rolls around his wrists and ankles. He’s probably getting ready to put on another inch. His growth schedule is the same as my other two had as babies. The doc always teases me that I’m producing cream instead of milk.

I’ve lost all but five pounds of my pregnancy weight. I’m thrilled. I expected to keep at least twenty pounds, like I did with my first two. I haven’t had a real heavy appetite since Tadpole was born, and now that I’ve been unhappy all this week, my appetite is next to nil. I eat now because I have to to help maintain my milk supply. I’ve included some extra vitamins especially for nursing mothers to help with what may be lacking since I don’t feel like eating. But as I’m discovering, when I’m unhappy, I don’t eat. And since I’m breastfeeding, my fat stores are disappearing to sustain the milk. Fortunately, I’m still at least 50 lbs overweight so I’m not in any danger of “wasting away”. My hips have also gone down 3 1/2 of the six inches I gained. However, the increased hipsize is still preventing me from getting back into the jeans I wore before I got pregnant. I’m more okay with that then I was with the thought that I would be back up to my pre-divorce weight after delivery. Fortunately, that has not happened.

I bought a car this week. I was able to qualify for enough of a car loan to get a nice sedan. They bring out the vehicle that is in my price range and it was a 2004 chevy cavelier. Doesn’t even have plates yet. I bought it as a used vehicle, but the milage is low enough to make me wonder what it could have been used for that it didn’t even get plates. Not that I really care, It’s a nice car and will work enough for my purposes. It’s even a sporty color. I ran into someone at the grocery store yesturday who has a 91 cavelier and it was still in nice working order. His engine sounded great. He told me that if I take care of this car, it’ll take care of me. I took his car as a good vote that I may have purchased a decent one.
