First week of school and baby adventures
Well, we have made it through our first week of school. A is loving his dream schedule for 8th grade, including his second year algebra class at the high school. E is enjoying the variety of students and teachers. I was much relieved to hear her first words about her first day of school to be, “I made tons of new friends, Mom.”
Tadpole turned 4 months old on the 8th. I’m babysitting N afterschool as she is now in first grade and there was a mom there with a three month old. I swear Tadpole made two of her. Everyone guesses his age to be six months because he’s so long and happy and expressive. He’s a total charmer. Loves people, loves to smile, loves to interact.
He’s doing a lot of squiming around by pushing off with his legs. He hasn’t flipped over really on purpose yet..but if he’s on his side, he’ll finish either to his back or to his front. He’s finally reaching for things and the drooling and chewing on things is getting increasing. As he is getting increasingly fussy when he tires, I hope it’s a sign that the tooth is getting close to breaking through.
He’s getting ticklish as well. A and E both play with him now as he’s becoming fun and giggly. He’s ticklish around his shoulder area so I’ve gotton into blowing raspberries near his neck…today he returned the favor. My entire face ended up covered in baby drool, but I had an engaged baby who was laughing and trying to chew on me as I was chewing on him. It was so much fun. We were both laughing pretty good.
On a personal note. I’m so glad I didn’t give him up for adoption. Nothing beats that melting smile he gives me when he first wakes up and looks at me. And I wouldn’t have traded our ten minute giggle time this afternoon for anything. I still worry that rough times are in the soup with his father, especially once he weds someone, but those thoughts are fleeting. For all the heartache that has come with getting pregnant with Tadpole..I just woudln’t trade it. I’m so glad he’s here and that I get to be his mom.
