Just being a boy or is it something more?

My son is 13 and even though he’s a relatively clean child, he has a serious problem with putting his dirty clothes in the hamper. Now he and I go around about this over and over again and he meekly apologizes. Yet, I walk into his room and find a pile of dirty clothes sitting on the floor right NEXT TO his hamper.

I have to wonder about this behavior…he put his dirty clothes in a neat pile in one place….but for some reason couldn’t handle the one degree of movement necessary to put the offending garment actually IN the hamper.

Is he just a typical boy? Or could there be a deeper darker meaning? Perhaps he’s aware of something I am not? Perhaps the real reason behind reading his comic books and playing his video games is that he’s training himself to fight this darker reason. Perhaps I’m unaware of the dark, demented soul living in his hamper who eats only one sock. Maybe I”m missing out on the obvious clues that the hamper is really a portal to another dimention and can’t be too full of dirty clothes.

And maybe….just maybe…he’s a typical 13 year old who only remembers to take off his clothes as he’s falling asleep and so doesn’t bother to put them anywhere. Just tosses them as sleep takes over his body in the general direction….of the floor.

I’m pretty sure it’s normal. It took my brother til his early 20’s to actually buy a hamper for storing dirty clothes. But hey, they’re in a pile, and in one place at that.

It affects the distaff as well - 7 years of marriage, and I never did convince my wife to hang up her towells after a shower. Ended up keeping mine on a hanger in the closet so I’d have a dry one.
