A New Year
Once again we are at the start of a new year. I look back at the 32 years that have come and gone and wonder where the years go. It’s not unusual. Everyone does it.
This New Year’s Eve I spent it in the company of some new friends at a wonderful concert and dance for lds singles in the Seattle area. I was not the only one from Portland to drive up and go. The concert was absolutely fantastic. The dance was okay. I definately spent this New Year’s Eve better then I spent last New Year’s Eve. The only low point came at midnight when people around me exchanged kisses. I wasn’t upset that I wasn’t recieving one. It just made me remember last New Year’s and how miserable I was just one year ago. Tired, sleepy, but very sad. Enough of that nonsense.
I only have three resolutions for this year.
1. Figure out whether I’m going to school or getting a job.
2. Focus on having Family Home Evening more regularly
3. Lose 50 lbs.
That’s it. Three simple resolutions. I know I’ve said this many times on here but it’s time to stop waiting. It seems like everytime I say that, something then happens that requires my patience to see through. Well, I don’t seem to have any of those to wait for.
The kids start off this year doing great. Tadpole cut his sixth tooth this morning. So now he has four teeth on top and two on bottom. He’s getting strong and trying to figure out the mechanics of crawling. He’s not quite there. He moves all over and there’s no place he doesn’t get to, but he is still doing this commando, spider, shuffle, scoot move all over. But you can see him working on getting it all down. Slowly but surely he’ll get it. I’m also introducing him to various tastes and so far, he’s eating food, but the only thing he seems to enjoy eating is mashed potato. The fruit and veggies he tolerates at this point. So things are going well with him.
A and E are also doing well. They have enjoyed the two week break from school and they recieved some very nice things for Christmas. I recieved a nice gift that has had to be returned. We’ll see if I get a new gift in replacement for it. But tomorrow it’s back to the grindstone for all of us. Kids will be busy with school and activities and I’ll be busy getting this family back on it’s feet.
