My awesome son

Ok, time for some bragging about my amazing young son. Alex is ten years old, finishing up fifth grade and very intellegent. He has a wicked sense of humor and rarely do we ever get the last word in a joke. He understands the gospel far more completely then I did at his age, and he often amazes me with his simple insight of seeming complex ideas. He plays the violin at school and is one of the top students there.

What’s got me writting this mushy bit about my son is the little school project he’s working on. He comes home last week to tell me that he’s doing a research project at school. I look at him strangely, there are only three weeks of school left and he already finished his research project and got an excellent grade on it. He goes on to tell me that he approached he teacher and asked if he could do an experiment on the types of books (fantasy, horror, animals, etc…) the kids in each grade level like to read. After recieving approval from his teacher, he then sets up a time with each classroom teacher to come in and ask their kids which type of books they like to read. As of today he’s collected his information and is now settling to write his report.

What I find amazing is that the little spud actually started a research project on his own. Came up with the idea and is executing it. I know I was not capable of writing papers when I was in fifth grade. I didn’t even finish the papers I was supposed to write for any of my english classes in high school. I’m so proud of him I’m speechless. (yeah obviously) :D

Tonight they are having the last violin concert at his school for the year. In two more weeks I’ll have myself a sixth grader off to middle school. I’m very proud of him, and if he can pull off this in fifth grade, I don’t think I need to worry about his school career.
