there’s a title?

Wednesday evening and the rugrats are off to sleep. Not much happened today, greyduck pulled an all nighter at work and so slept most of the day, when my daycare kids weren’t being loud.

I have this one child I watch three days a week, and loud is an understatement. She doesn’t know the meaning of the word quiet. She’s two and a half and knows the world revolves around her, doesn’t it? She is very used to getting her way and now Mom is expecting their third and no longer can indulge her. It’s been interesting to watch my friend now treat her child the same way I treat her when I watch her. She used to tell me that she didn’t approve of my “methods” and now she uses them. What’s funny is that I’m a parent and any child that comes into my home get’s “parented” and I seem to be collecting children. They won’t leave, most of the kids that come over to my house or that I babysit live near by, and they all return or , in the case of the toddlers, cry when it’s time to leave. I dont’ really understand that since I’m not into crafts, I have my kids toys but it’s a free for all and I try to be fair. But I don’t provide exotic treats, if any, so I’m not real sure why everyone likes being over at my house, but they do.

Of course I may just be flattering myself. I do happen to have a daughter who is loved by everyone. There isn’t very many ppl in her life that she doesn’t make feel special. She’s probably the real reason these kids like to come over, it doesn’t matter the age, she will play patiently with them, even when I can see that she would rather be doing something else. She’s a gem and keeps the rest of our little stuffed shirt family from living in our books all day long. One never really understands or appreciates their children enough. My son is so much like his parents, however he seems to be a little tougher then us. He has been fortunate not to have moved 80 million times in one grade so he has grown up in one school, a novelty neither my husband or I ever enjoyed. So when he does get teased, and it does happen, he is much better at handling it. Not that everything has always gone well, but better then what I went through. I just hope his middle school years are better then mine. I passed my 7 grade because my teachers felt sorry for me. All D’s, well I only went to school maybe 2 or 3 days a week that year. Sexual harrasment should never be dealt to any child, especially by other children. My kids have been spared that so far, lets hope it stays that way.

Kids just have that wonderful quality that as long as a place feels safe or meets a need they swarm to it and stay. It’s great that you are providing that kind of environment :)

p.s. found this blog off of greyducks blog. Good luck with it!
